One of Leo's favorite cookbooks is Lüchow's German Cookbook, illustrated by Ludwig Bemelmans, who penned and illustrated the Madeline series.  As Bemelmans sketched on the back of menus at Pete's Tavern in NYC, Leo also sketched chefs, wait staff, musicians, etc., on the back of napkins, tablecloths (most notably at Elaine's on the Upper East Side and the Sazerac Bar in New Orleans).  Many of these sketches became future paintings!
